Colombian Farmer Finds $600,000,000 Drug Money Buried On His Farm..

#1 Drug Baron

Pablo Emilio Escobar Gaviria (December 1, 1949 – December 2, 1993) was the most famous drug kingpin in history. The Colombian criminal was the leader of the Medellin cartel and had a net worth of approximately US$30 billion by the early 1990s, which could go up to US$50 billion if you count in the money he buried.

#2 Cash Flow

At its peak, his criminal organization would smuggle over 15 tons of cocaine into the US per day. Pablo's brother even mentioned once that they had to spend around $1000 each week just in rubber bands for the cash stacks.

#3 Robin Hood?

Pablo tried to keep a good public image by helping poor communities. He built soccer fields, houses and even neighborhoods. He was also famous for giving cash away during political events

#4 Money pits

With his extremely successful business, the difficult part was hiding all of that cash. Pablo started to place large amounts of money inside of hidden compartments in furniture, walls, or underground in barrels.

#5 Tracked down

Pablo was killed on a rooftop when trying to escape from an ambush that was planned by the Colombian Police and the CIA. Since Pablo was so careful about sharing sensitive information, many think that most of these secret locations where he hid his money will never be known. The CIA estimates that there are 100 of these money pits, each containing between $500 million to one billion dollars.

#6 Lucky farmer

This is Jose Mariena Cartolos, a Colombian farmer who found a money pit while digging an irrigation trench for a palm plantation. Cartolos found a bunch of blue plastic barrels holding a total of six hundred million dollars.

#7 Who gets the money?

There are a lot of questions about what could happen next. The way it usually goes, this money is seized by the government and used in social programs. However, this finding will spark the curiosity of people from other regions who will flock the area where the money was found in search of other similar hidden treasures.
